Traveling In A Corset

I’ve spent a lot of time wearing corsets on planes, trains, and in cars. But when I was in London in 2022, I actually surprised myself by walking around the city with my Orchard Corset Mesh Hourglass Curve Longline Overbust Corset CS-511, size 24″ for the ENTIRE DAY. I wore it with a large gap in the back and made sure it felt comfy and that I had some wiggle room because walking for long periods of time in a corset did not sound like great fun… but I’m glad I did it.

Usually when I’m traveling, I’ll wear my corset to bed, and then in the morning get ready with it on and take it off right before I head out on the town, or where ever it is I’m going.

But I decided to wear my corset while I was in London for a few reasons:

  1. A PROMISE: I made a semi-promise to myself that I would attempt to continue my waist training while I was abroad. (side note: I used to have this annoying habit of dropping all my good habits while I was vacationing, and then I’d come home and criticize myself and be upset for not keeping my good habits going. I told myself while I was in London that I would try my best to wear my corset as much as possible for the sake of keeping a promise to myself.)
  2. EATING LESS: Wearing a corset all day kept me from eating way more than I would like to admit I would have eaten had I not been wearing the corset
  3. NOT HEAVY: The corset was mesh, so it felt breathable, cool, and light. I don’t think I would have worn a cotton or satin corset all day, especially in hot August London weather.
  4. IN PUBLIC: I wanted to get comfortable wearing my corset out in public, and what better way to do that then in another country where you’ll never see any of those people ever again?!
  5. SOCIAL MEDIA: I was getting back into social media, namely on TikTok, and I wanted to create some content in my corset and whilst I was traveling. If I had not worn my corset while in London, I’m not sure if I would have posted the content. My goal was to grow on the platform as a corseted creator. So I had to wear my corset while creating content.

Now let’s talk about how I was able to do this and a few tips for you if you’re thinking about wearing your corset out and about but aren’t sure exactly how to do it.

First off, I’d say to figure out what the weather is going to be like. As I mentioned above, it would have been uncomfortable to wear a heavy cotton or satin corset while walking around all day, sweating under my corset in the heat. Yes, I wear a corset liner underneath my corset, but I would have probably been super uncomfortable walking around all day in that. I just know myself. If it were a cool, chilly, or cold day, wearing a cotton or satin corset would have kept me feeling snug and comfy! Of course, if all you have are cotton or satin corsets (no mesh corsets), then okay, yeah, put it on, but just don’t tie it too tight if you’re going to walk around all day in the heat. Remember, in the heat our bodies tend to swell up, and then add walking around all day… just be careful and drink lots of water if you’re walking in a hot climate whilst wearing your corset.

Okay, so once you’ve figured out the weather, it’s time to figure out what you’ll be wearing, either under your corset, or over it. I chose a two-piece linen co-ord: high waisted shorts & a long sleeve crop top. The overbust corset took the place of a bra, so that was nice! (See, I like overbust corsets for that one, single reason: you don’t have to wear a bra! But for waist training all day everyday, I’ll go with an underbust corset.) And my pink umbrella for when the sun was beating down on me just a little too harsh.

Now if you want to wear something different, I’d go with either a high-waisted skirt and either a crop top or a full length blouse either tucked into the skirt or out, depending on how “showy” you want your corset to be. High-waisted bottoms (skirts, shorts, jeans, etc) are, in my opinion, easier and better while you’re wearing your corset, especially if your corset is pretty curvy. The waist band on your bottoms will stay at your waist line and you won’t need to keep playing with it; if you were to wear non-high-waisted bottoms, so like “regular” jeans that sit at or around your hips, the pants may either sag or feel a bit floppy. Still, if you want to try low-rise or “regular-rise” bottoms while in a corset, go for it! If you want to stealth (hide) your corset, I recommend baggier clothes of course, maybe some baggy jeans and a loose fitted blouse or t-shirt.

Here’s what I wore on another day in London. I wanted to wake up at sunrise, so I dragged my husband out of bed, walked up a bridge, and took a few shots. I’m in black leggings, a pink tank top, a long tan cardigan (about knee length), and my beige mesh corset aka my bra, LOL.

Here is another corseted outfit look. This was my last day in London, and we were going to be traveling to Paris on the EuroStar. I’m wearing the same long tan cardigan, a tan tank top underneath my beige mesh corset, and some white linen loose fitted pants. I chose this outfit because I wanted to be comfortable in my corset while traveling by train, and I wanted to make sure that if I needed to take it off for security purposes, that it would be easy for me to do so quickly. (I didn’t have this luck in France heading to Italy; I forgot to take off my corset before TSA, so the steel boning in the corset turned on the metal detector alarm, and I was taken to a back room where two French ladies watched me undress and take off my corset. SMH, never again will I stealth my corset on the way to the airport. I blame this stupidity on jet lag.) But at the Eurostar, there wasn’t a check point, TSA, or any metal detectors so I was safe!
