1) shell fabric/exterior fabric: this is the outer material your corset is made of, usually cotton, satin, latex, mesh, or leather
2) steel bones/boning: the steel that lines the corset; either flat or spiral (spiral boning is more flexible and often more comfortable)
3) panels: the material between each steel bone (front panel, side panel, back panel)
4) waist tape: provides support to the waist during the tightening of the corset; it’s a band that goes all the way around the corset (your waist); usually on the inside of the corset, but sometimes it is visible
5) busk: the clasps in the front of the corset that allow you to open and close the corset (sometimes there is a zipper instead of the clasps)
6) grommets (also known as eyelets): the small holes on the back of the corset that the laces go through
7) laces: the two strings used to tie the corset
8) bunny ears: the two loops in the back used to pull and tighten the corset; the top part of the bunny ears tightens the top part of the corset, and the bottom part of the bunny ears tightens the bottom part of the corset
9) inverted bunny ears: same as above; but instead, the top part of the bunny ears tightens the BOTTOM part of the corset, the bottom part of the bunny ears tightens the TOP part of the corset (hence the word inverted, lol)
10) aglet: the little plastic cap at the end of the laces; these keep the lace string material from falling apart
11) modesty panel: sometimes attached to the corset with thread, other times with part of the laces; either way, it is removeable; it protects your skin from the laces when tightening your corset; keeps your skin covered if you are wearing your corset out and want a more “modest” or put together look
12) corset liner: what you would wear under your corset so that your corset does not get sweat or dead skin cells on it; protects your skin from the laces, especially if there is no modesty panel (your tank top or shirt could be considered a corset liner, but a “corset liner” resembles a tube top that just covers your torso)
