8 Reasons Why I Will Not Wear My Corset

I wear my corset majority of the time, but there are specific instances where I don’t even think about putting it on. I am not a doctor or licensed professional, and these are based on my experiences. Alright, let’s explore the eight reasons I will not put on my corset.

1. First Day of My Period:  I have previously experimented with putting on my corset on the first day of my period to see if it helped with bloating, and it does, slightly. But it does not help with cramps, and depending on my mood, my corset can make me feel even more irritable and annoyed. I prefer wearing loose clothing and letting my body just relax and rest, especially on the first day of menses! If I’m not feeling too emotional or my cramps aren’t breaking my back, I will wear my corset very loosely. However, 9 times out of 10, my corset is far away from me on the first day!

2. Around My Family: If I’m going to a family function, I will not wear my corset. But again, there are times in the past where I have experimented with wearing it under loose fitting lounge sets. And it seemed okay… but I’d rather not call attention to my corset around family. In the past, certain family members found out about my corset wearing and social media, to which I received unwanted opinions and questions, as well as lots of judgement and criticism. I’d rather not go there again.

3. During Workouts and Most Walks: I am not a fan of working out or doing any strenuous physical activity with a corset on; whether that corset is tight or loose fitting. I don’t want to feel any restriction or feel sweat underneath my corset while I’m working out. I have worn my corset during very light walks while it was cold outside, and that didn’t bother me. But I do prefer not wearing a corset while walking and other types of workouts.

4. Driving Long Distances: Sitting straight up and down for hours at a time on long drives or flights is extremely uncomfortable for me. Again, there are times I will wear it to travel to an event, but I keep it laced significantly looser than normal.

5. During Headaches, Migraines, Neck Aches, or Any Upper Body Pain: If I’m in pain, my corset will immediately come off and stay off until I’m completely pain-free. Even if the corset isn’t the reason for the pain; I prefer to be as comfortable and as free as possible during painful symptoms. I am very prone to migraines and tension headaches, and I have chronic shoulder and neck pain. So my corset will only come off if the pain is worse than the “usual” amount of pain.

6. During Intimacy: Wearing a corset during intimacy is very uncomfortable and restrictive for me. I have tried multiple positions in the past, but to no avail. It is mandatory that I take off my corset before the spicy action can proceed.

7. Pooping: I strongly disagree with advice suggesting you should be able to go to the bathroom while corseted. When I’m on the toilet, my belly needs to expand as I push (TMI, I know! But we all do it, so relax…), and if I have my corset on, it is completely restricting that expansion, therefore no excretion. I’ve tried even loosening it up before going, but I just prefer it to be completely off before I go.

8. Deep House Cleaning: Tasks that involve me getting on my hands and knees to scrub, dust, or bend down/over are entirely too restrictive in a corset. I am not going to do a crappy job of cleaning my home just because I can’t turn or tilt a certain way. Also, I prefer having no restriction when I am going hard with my deep cleaning. I don’t want to worry about harsh or even toxic cleaning chemicals accidentally splashing on my corset, or my corset smelling like bleach or sweat.

There you have it! My eight unabashed reasons for not putting on my corset. If you would like a more in depth chatty take, check out the YouTube video I made, linked below.
